Scenario Notes:

The purpose of this scenario is to highlight the importance to NATO of
their "Eyes in the Skies" , the E-2 and E-3 AWACS birds. This scenario
puts Blue in trouble from the start, but it can be successfully completed.
The question for you to explore is which tactics will offset the lack of
real time radar control. How aggressive will you choose to be and how
creatively can you employ your available assets to accomplish the mission?

Background:

Anti-radiation missiles fired from specially modified Backfires have
eliminated all resident AWACS E-3 and E-2 aircraft in the theater.
Replacements are in transit, but the convoy headed for Narvik can't wait
and the Backfires know it.

Orders:

Use whatever means at your disposal to ensure that the convoy reaches Narvik
substantially intact. The Marine force on board the 'phibs is badly needed.
Your primary opposition will be long-range standoff bombers, although
submarines and/or small Soviet SAGs are not out of the question. Although
the Backfires will be gunning for the convoy, don't leave your bases naked.
You are not granted nuclear release.
